Construction begins on Woodridge Forest Middle School Expansion

Construction has begun on an expansion of Woodridge Forest Middle School as part of the 2018 bond program approved by voters last May. The expansion will include more classrooms and expanded physical education dressing rooms, adding 360 seats to the school and taking its student capacity to 1,500. The Board of Trustees approved the construction contract with Purcell Construction at the Board’s regular meeting in February. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2020. Also, in February, the Board of Trustees approved a contract with Wilson Fire Equipment for an upgrade to Porter High School’s Fire Alarm system. Several projects remain from the 2015 bond program. At the March regular meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a construction contract with Joslin Construction for transportation department parking and site renovations. Finally, several projects at five elementary campuses remain. These are among projects that include paint, small area expansions, fire alarm updates, updated marquees, updated sound systems, new playground equipment, updates to security vestibules, and the installation of a first-responder antenna system. Approximately 70 percent of these projects are complete with final completion scheduled for summer 2019.
