Board approves agreements for work at Kings Manor, New Caney High School

The New Caney ISD Board of Trustees awarded a construction contract to Division 1 Construction for an addition and renovations at Kings Manor Elementary School at its regular meeting in July. Work to take place at Kings Manor will include a renovation of the kitchen/cafeteria to classrooms, an extended parent drop-off/pick-up area, a kitchen/cafeteria addition, and other life cycle items. Work on the roof at Kings Manor, contracted earlier with Restoration Services, is approximately 20% complete. Re-roofing work at Crippen Elementary, awarded in May to Seabreeze Roofing, is approximately 30% complete.

The Board also approved an agreement with Stantec Architects for the design/construction delivery method for renovations at New Caney High School. Among the work scheduled for NCHS are a renovation to the fine arts area, an update to the auditorium, remodeling the kitchen serving lines, renovation of the athletic area, and other life cycle items. A roof replacement, contracted earlier with Restoration Services, is approximately 1% complete.

NCISD Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board that the construction of a field house at White Oak Middle School is 98% complete and that security upgrades (new, additional cameras and keyless building access systems) are on schedule. Also, construction of Elementary School No. 10 is 10% complete overall. Site utilities are about 70% complete and the first section of the concrete slab is down, representing about 20% of the building.
