Two more projects related to the 2015 bond referendum are underway with the awarding of architectural contracts at Monday’s Board of Trustee meeting. The Board approved agreements for design/construction delivery method to Joiner Partnership, Inc. for additions and renovations at New Caney Middle School and to IBI Architects for Elementary School No. 11.
Work at New Caney Middle School will include kitchen/cafeteria expansion and upgrades, a pre-ag classroom addition, fine arts expansion, updates to the auditorium, and other life cycle items. The tentative timeline for completion is winter 2017. Elementary No. 11, with construction scheduled to begin in the spring of 2017, is scheduled to open for the 2018-19 school year.
Also, NCISD Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board that re-roofing projects at New Caney High School, New Caney Middle School, and Crippen Elementary will all be underway within the next two weeks and should be completed within four months.
Finally, construction of the field house at White Oak Middle School is 90% complete and is expected to finish up in July. Work at Elementary No. 10 includes excavation and the development of the building pad. The project is approximately 5% complete. Clearing and grubbing for additions at Porter High School continue with the total project at about 2% completion.
