Tavola Elementary school will open with approximately 800 students Aug. 24. The school, part of Friendswood Development Company’s master-planned community located in the north end of the district, includes a cafeteria with a state-of-the-art kitchen, a full-size gymnasium with a sports floor and six backstops, security cameras at all entrances and interior cameras monitoring all corridors, and an emergency generator system to support all life safety devices such as a public announcement system, a fire alarm and a phone system. The campus will offer access to a wireless network that will support the use of Chromebooks as part of the district’s 1:Vision program.
Keefer Crossing received updates to the front entrance of the campus and the school cafeteria. The final project associated with the 2012 bond is the expansion of the child nutrition facility which includes the installation of a natural gas generator for increase efficiency. Construction will begin in September.
