July, 2017 - The addition at Porter High School is 98% complete with first flooring installation underway.
May, 2017 - Work at Porter High School is approximately 85% complete overall. Work continues on interior finishes, including carpet, tile, painting, and plumbing fixtures. Also, the final site landscaping is set to begin.
March, 2017 - Work on the expansion at PHS is approximately 75% complete overall with much of the remaining work now focused on the interior, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work as well as painting, tiling and case work.
January, 2017 - Work at Porter High School is approximately 53% complete overall. The exterior frame for the classroom addition is complete, while masonry is 95% complete, electrical is 80% complete, and interior work is 30% complete.
November, 2016 - Work at Porter High School is approximately 30% complete overall with roofing work completed. For the classrooms addition, the exterior frame is approximately 60% constructed with the interior frame 40% complete. Work on air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, and the fire sprinkler system is also underway. Masonry for the career & technical education facility is approximately 60% complete with rough mechanical, electrical, and plumbing underway.
October, 2016 - NCISD Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board that work at PHS is approximately 20% complete overall. Structural steel installation and the additional parking area are complete. Roof work is approximately 40% complete.
August, 2016 - NCISD Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board that work at PHS is approximately 15% complete overall, including 100% completion of the concrete slab.
July, 2016 - NCISD Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board that work at PHS is approximately 8% complete. Structural piers are complete, and underground plumbing is about 70% complete.
June, 2016 - Clearing and grubbing for additions at Porter High School have begun with the total project at about 2% completion.
April, 2016 - The New Caney ISD Board of Trustees awarded the construction contract for additions and renovations at Porter High School to GTT Construction at its April meeting.
March, 2016 - Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board of Trustees at its March, 2016 regular meeting that the construction drawings for campus renovations and additions are complete. Bids for the construction work went out March 29.
January, 2016 - Construction drawings for renovations/expansions are 95% complete. Construction bids are scheduled to go out in February, 2016.
October, 2015 - Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board of Trustees at its Oct. 19, 2015 meeting that the design phase for the Porter High School additions continues with the beginning of construction documents. Construction documents set forth the detailed requirements for the construction of a building project. They consist of drawings and specifications. Drawings are the illustrative component of construction documents, whereas specifications are written requirements pertaining to building materials, equipment, and construction systems that outline the standards to be met in the construction of a project.
September, 2015 - Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board of Trustees at is Sept. 21 meeting that design is approximately 90 percent complete for the additions at Porter High School. Construction drawings will begin thereafter. PHS will be adding 20 classrooms and a career technology education facility.
June, 2015 - An addition at Porter High School is planned to occur in the first phase of projects associated with the 2015 bond election. Project timeline dates are set for planning and project-management purposes and may be adjusted in response to changing circumstances as work progresses.
