UPDATES:
December, 2017 - Construction of the natatorium is complete. The facility hosted its first competitive swim meet, Dec. 1, with 15 schools and 360 student-athletes competing. The courtyard between the natatorium and the Texan Drive Stadium community room is nearing completion.
September, 2017 - Construction of the district natatorium is approximately 95% complete overall. Interior finishes are about 90% complete, and site work is 80% including paving, sidewalks, and concrete.
July, 2017 - Construction of the district natatorium is approximately 70% complete overall. Wall construction continues and pool area painting is underway on the interior. The exterior windows are 90% complete and painting is underway in the locker room addition.
May, 2017 - Construction of the district natatorium is approximately 65% complete overall. The exterior wall system is 70% complete with interior work underway as well. The pool plaster and tile work is about 15% complete and locker rooms approximately 60% complete.
April, 2017 - Photo update for the aquatic center.
March, 2017 - The aquatic center project is approximately 45% complete overall. Roofing and masonry work has begun, the grandstands are set to be constructed, and the pool has undergone initial testing for leakage. The additional locker room space is approximately 40% complete with exterior walls 50% and roof decking 75% complete.
February, 2017 - Photo update for the aquatic center, scheduled to open in 2017.
January, 2017 - Work on the aquatic center is approximately 35% complete overall. The foundation system is 70% complete. The storm sewer and sanitary sewer are 90% complete. The structural steel is being put in place and is 25% complete.
November, 2016 - Work on the aquatic center is approximately 18% complete overall. The foundation system is 20% complete, and underground plumbing is 80% complete. Work on the storm sewer and sanitary sewer continues.
October, 2016 - The aquatic center is approximately 10% complete overall. The rough structural system for the pool is finished, and the pool is 50% complete overall.
September, 2016 - The aquatic center at the site of Texan Drive Stadium is approximately 10% complete. The bottom of the pool has been poured, and 30% of the walls are formed.
August, 2016 - Excavation of the pool area at the aquatic center is continuing with plumbing and drainage work underway. The project is approximately 5% complete.
July, 2016 - Work at the site of the district aquatic center began in June. The project, scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2017, is approximately 2% complete. Rough grading and excavation of the area in which the pool will be constructed is underway.

May, 2016 - The New Caney ISD Board of Trustees awarded the contract for construction of the district aquatic center to Drymalla Construction at its May regular meeting. The design phase for the aquatic center is complete, and construction is scheduled to begin at the end of June with a 13-month planned timeline for completion.
March, 2016 - Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates reported to the Board of Trustees at its March, 2016 regular meeting that the design phase for the aquatic center is complete and bids for construction proposals are out and will be due in May. Laura Sachtleben of Stantec presented to the Board on the design features of the facility. The aquatic center is currently designed to feature a 25-yard competition pool, spectator seating for 400 people, swim locker rooms, and offices. The pool will feature 15 total lanes to support both current and future high school swim programs at the same time. Design of the facility is subject to modifications per the outcome of the bid process.
January, 2016 - Construction drawings are 50% complete. Construction bids are scheduled to go out in May, 2016.
September, 2015 - The design phase of the district natatorium is proceeding as scheduled. Director of Facility Planning and Construction Richard Gates presented schematic designs of the natatorium to the Board at the September meeting. Design is scheduled to be completed in the fall with construction drawing beginning thereafter. The natatorium design phase is scheduled to be completed in the spring.
June, 2015 - The construction of a district natatorium is planned to occur in the first phase of projects associated with the 2015 bond election. Project timeline dates are set for planning and project-management purposes and may be adjusted in response to changing circumstances as work progresses.
